2023 Serrat Chardonnay

The 2023 Serrat Chardonnay is a complex and powerful white wine from the Yarra Valley. It features an aromatic profile of white peach, pear, grapefruit, lemon verbena, and nutmeg, with a palate that is long, structured, and has notes of citrus, stone fruit, and a hint of flint and spice. The wine was fermented using natural yeast and aged in French oak, giving it a balanced complexity with a long and refreshing finish. 

Technical Notes / Background:

• The fruit is from Serrat’s Mendoza clone Chardonnay, whole-bunch pressed. 

• Fermented with natural yeast, then aged in French oak (600 L seasoned barrels + a new puncheon). 

• The vineyard density: ~8,800 vines per hectare.

Cellaring / Drinking Window:
The wine has good structure and mineral backbone; it will develop well — allow time for its “latent depth” to emerge.
