Tasting Note – 2021 Rockford Basket Press Shiraz
Deep crimson‑purple in the glass. The nose opens with dark fruits — blackberry and plum — layered with earthy, meaty notes, and hints of spice, cedar, and cocoa.
On the palate, it is rich and concentrated, revealing black fruit compote, plum, and mocha, supported by fine, chalky tannins and a savoury, earthy complexity. A gentle oak influence integrates seamlessly, a result of two years of maturation in seasoned French and American hogsheads.
The finish is long and savoury, with lingering dark fruit sweetness, spice, and a persistent, elegant note of earth.
Overall, this is a powerful yet refined Shiraz from old, dry‑grown Barossa vines (60–140 years), combining traditional Barossa character with structure and depth for long-term aging.
